biloxi, mississippiMarch 7-9, 2008Gulf Coast Chef ChallengeEnhance your Grand Wine Tasting experience as you learn from the region's best chefs during the Gulf Coast Chef Challenge, the newest addition to the Southern Breeze Wine + Culinary Festival. This live one-hour cooking competition hosted by Chef Rob Stinson of Salute will take place at 1 p.m. during Saturday's Grand Wine Tasting. Eight local chefs will be invited to participate in this "Iron Chef" style of competition. The chefs will be given a common protein and will choose a starch and vegetable used in the creation of a meal for this unique culinary competition on DCS equipment. After one hour is given to prepare the delicacies, each chef's creation will be critiqued by a panel of judges, and an all over winner will be named for Mississippi's Gulf Coast. One winner from each state will go on to compete in the Fall to be named the best chef on the Gulf Coast. The Southern Breeze Wine + Culinary Festival is proud to announce Chef Tom Wolfe of Peristyle in New Orleans and Rhonda Weidner, co-host of Good Morning Mississippi on WLOX, will be a part of the distinctive panel of judges during this event.
